Review: Blue Shoes Volume 1

Blue Shoes Volume 1 by JJ Knight

Description:
Jess Rivera is a young music executive engaged to Morris Music's hottest rock star: Dylan Wolf.

She wears a gorgeous diamond ring on her finger, and everyone wants to know when they're getting married.

Between Dylan's screaming fans who chase him everywhere, plus their glamorous L.A. lifestyle, the couple can hardly get a moment alone together.

That's why they're planning a secret wedding.

But when a visit to a bridal gown boutique goes terribly wrong, all their romantic plans are ruined.

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against the couple's love. Is it just bad luck, or is someone trying to destroy Dylan Wolf?

My Thoughts:

I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of this book from the author. To understand what is happening you need to have read her series Revenge because the two main characters Dylan and Jess are the same main characters in that series.

The story picks up with the two in LA again but this time they are so in love and attempting to plan their wedding! However, life with a rock star doesn't prove to be easy. I hate to say it, but Jess kinda got on my nerves! She just seemed a bit whiny about things. I get that its frustrating and the press would make me crazy, but seriously not telling the love of your life how you are feeling because you are afraid it will break you two up....well that is a HUGE red flag in any relationship in my book!

So the couple are super hot when they are together, but there are all sorts of issues that pop up during this portion of the story. I am pretty sure someone is trying to break them up, but I don't know for sure because right when things get good it ends! I hope to read part 2 soon to keep the story fresh and be able to give a good continueing review.

At this time all I can say is if you have read Revenge then check this out because it is always nice to see characters return, however if you haven't then wait a few weeks to see what I think of the entire part! I enjoyed Revenge (don't think I wrote a review), but am torn about how I feel about this series.

Review: Bring on the Heat

Bring on the Heat by Katie Rose
Book 1 in the Boys of Summer Series

Description:
In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

My Thoughts:
Okay I just have to say that I love that she titled this series The Boys of Summer because that is exactly what I think about when I hear baseball. That being said yes, this book is about a baseball player.

Darcy Hamilton is a girl with stars in her eyes. She loves her local baseball team the Sonics and knows her stuff when it comes to baseball. Unfortunately this does not pay the bills! So to make ends meet while she strives to become an author she house sits fir Lydia Logan, rich socialite extraordinaire. While Lydia is out of town she tells Darcy to take her place at an exclusive fundraiser the Sonics are putting on. Of course Darcy takes her upon it, but that’s where the snowball begins to form.

Chase Westbrook is the starting pitcher for the Sonics with high hopes for his future. He strives to play for the Yankees and make his millions and retire rich and successful. A chance meeting of who he believes to be Lydia sets everything up for him to meet his goals.

Darcy wakes up after a fantastic night at the fundraiser only to realize she is not at home. Only after sneaking out does she realize she left a key item at Chase’s home. The snowball begins to roll after time and time again she tries to get it back only to be sucked into Chase and Lydia’s world more and more. After spending so much time with Chase she begins to develop feelings for him, but how can she when he believes her to be someone else! Only with the snowball forms into an all-out avalanche do things become clear to Chase.

Can he forgive her for deceiving him all this time? Does it matter that she is not rich or will the really Lydia get the guy and live happily ever after?

This book is great because although the whole time I was sitting here saying this is all gonna blow up in her face it ends up great. I don’t feel the ending was rushed nor do I feel that there was anything left unsaid. I’m quite curious what the next book in the series will be about!

Review: Reckless

Reckless by Priscilla West

Description:
Everything about him warned me to stay away.

I’d seen bad boys before, but he had it all and more. The rippling muscles covered in tatts, the piercing eyes hiding dark secrets, the silky voice that could make a girl come with just a whisper . . .

He was exactly the type of guy that would get me in trouble, but when he jumped off the stage, inked skin glistening with sweat and breathed his seductive words into my ear, I couldn’t resist the temptation.

It was supposed to be the best one-night stand of my life, but fate didn’t let it play out that way. Things happened. I got upset. I got hasty. And worst of all, I got reckless.

After that disaster, I thought it was the last I’d see of him. But what I didn’t know was that I’d started something.

Something that could shatter the very thing I had worked so hard to protect.

I should have known back then that the most seductive things in life are also the most dangerous.

My Thoughts:
I received this book as an ARC direct from the Author. I feel quite honored that she sent it to me. I enjoyed this book, except the end, but found myself comparing it to a few other “rockstar” books I have read by other authors. However although it was similar in parts, I mean of course there will be scenes behind stage, on the tour bus, and so on because there is only so many places for rockstars to be!

First of all let me warn you, this book does not come to an end! It doesn’t say to be continued and as far as I know at this point there isn’t a second one planned, but it did not come to an end. That bothers me. I would have liked to know ahead of time that it was part of a series or at least put to be continued at the end. Now I have no idea if I will ever get the rest of the story!

Jax is the rockstar. He is lead singer of The Hitchcocks (HC) a rock band that is just beginning to climb the charts. He is tall, tattoed, and basically rocker hot.

Riley has been hired as the tour accountant to get HC’s finances back in order. Her and Jax have a very unusual first encounter that leaves them both a little longing. However when they realize that they will have to spend the next 2 weeks together things really get interesting.

Kev, Chewie, and Sky make up the rest of the HC’s and Chewie made me laugh often. I loved the fact that during the book they were traveling along I80 to Denver, Colorado…which is where I had just traveled before reading this book. I could just picture the roads and scenery since it was fresh in my head! I also had to laugh that they mentioned they were going to Denver to stock up on what is now legal there. LOL

As things heat up between Jax and Riley the top starts to bubble over. Will both of their secrets of the past cause things to blow up or will they work past it? I can’t say I know for sure because not everything gets answered! However, it does end with a bang! Please check this book out and if I find out anything about there being a 2nd book I will try to post on here and let you know!

***I just found out that there will be a book 2!!!!!  It will be a 2 book series and the next one should come out in October. I will not complain if it comes out sooner!!***

Review: Ugly Love

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Description:
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

My Thoughts:
Okay I will warn you now. Get your tissues handy. I seriously cried reading this book. However, don’t let that stop you from reading it because it is really good.

Tate is literally the girl next door. She has moved in with her brother to get a fresh start and go back to school. She is going after her Masters in Nursing, so if you know anything about that type of schooling you know she is dealing with some hard classes. On top of that she is working too, so she has a pretty full plate.

Miles is the hot neighbor, to say the least. He is friends with Tate’s brother, Corbin.  Miles is very closed off and you spend the majority of the book wanting to smack some sense into both him and Tate. He can be such a sweet guy one minute and a jerk the next.  However, as you read the book you get flashes back to 6 years prior and things begin to make sense.

Tate and Miles decided that they can have a no strings attached relationship and nothing more. Within days Tate realizes this is not going to work for her, but she continues to bury her feelings because she has hope in Miles. Finally hope runs out and everything comes to an end.

Will they get past Miles' issues? What is it that has held him back for 6 years? I will not tell you! All I can say is again be prepared for sadness that I can honestly say would rank right up there in my worst nightmares.

I cannot leave this review without mentioning Cap. He is the elderly gentleman that pushes buttons for the elevator. He is an excellent listener and gives great advice as well. He also knows how to keep a secret as you will find out at the end! However, you don’t find guys like him very often anymore and he just makes you smile.

Review: The Navy SEAL's E-Mail Order Bride

The Navy SEAL's E-Mail Order Bride by Cora Seton
Heroes of Chance Creek Vol. 1

Description:
Mason Hall, Navy SEAL, knows all about difficult assignments, but his current mission is one for the record books. Not only must he find a wife—and get her pregnant—or forfeit the ranch his family has prized for generations, he must also convince his three brothers to marry, too—before the year is up. Who knew one city girl and three wayward brothers could put up such a fight?
Regan Anderson can’t wait any longer to meet Mr. Right, so she’s taken matters into her own hands. She’s quit her job, given up her nice apartment and undergone all the preliminary appointments to prepare for artificial insemination. Still, becoming a single mother is daunting, so when she spots Mason’s Wife Wanted ad on the Internet one night, she’s ready for a few laughs. She’s sure the ad must be fake, but when Mason answers back, she soon finds herself wanting more than a long distance relationship.
If Mason can just keep her talking until he makes it home from Afghanistan, he’s sure he can convince Regan he’s her man. But when he whisks her off for a trial run in Chance Creek, they’re in for an unpleasant surprise. The ranch is in ruins, the house has been stripped, and they’re going to have to work day and night to beat Mason’s deadline to win it back.
Can two strangers pull together against all odds? Or is this mission doomed to fail?
My Thoughts:
I will admit when I first read the description for this book, I misunderstood it. I thought all 4 brothers were going to have to marry the same girl and I was like how will that ever happen? Well, I was wrong. Each brother has to get married and one of them has to have a baby.

Reagan is lonely. She has decided that the perfect life just isn't in the cards for her, so she is going to stack the deck for herself. She wants a baby, so she is going to get herself one even without the help of a man. She lines everything up and then one drunken night she sees Mason's add online looking for a wife for himself and his 3 brothers. After several drinks she decides to email him and might I add her email is hilarious!!
Much to her dismay Mason replies and their connection just clicks.

Mason is desperate. There is no other way to put it. He is going to be the first out of the service, so it is all on him to get a wife and baby first. He wants nothing more than to get The Hall back and live there.  However he never thought he would fall for the first girl he talks to.

After using modern technology to talk to one another half way across the world Mason decides that Regan is the one. He puts it all on the line and gets her to come to Montana. After receiving many crushing blows about the condition of the ranch and how his uncle left things with the towns people neither Mason nor Regan think that happily ever after is meant for them at the ranch. However, never doubt a stubborn woman!! This is a very easy read and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I look forward to reading about the other 3 brothers as their books come out this summer and fall. I am also interested in checking out the author's other books. Go take a look at this new series!

Good Wood Cover Reveal!!

So today I get the honor to reveal the cover to the new book by LG Pace III And Michelle Pace called Good Wood!  I think it sounds fantastic and can't wait to check it out!  The sad news is we have to wait until July 21st, but with the speed this summer is going by it will be here in a blink of an eye! Anyway here's the info on it plus an excerpt!!

Synopsis
"It’s the sign of a true artisan when he can create beauty from what others consider trash. It takes heart to use a twisted bit of scrap and make something from it as if it were good wood.”

Somehow Joe survived the unlivable, and now he's just going through the motions. An endless string of one night stands does little to dull the ache from all he's lost. Even though he distracts himself daily with back-breaking work, his violent rage still simmers just under the surface.

Then along comes Molly, the feisty baby sister of his two best friends. Joe hasn’t seen her in years, and he's unprepared for his reaction to her when she falls out of the food truck and into his arms. Molly is still as mouthy ever, and now she's as delicious as the food she's serving up. It's totally against "The Bro Code", but he just can't seem to keep his hands off of her.

Molly has come back home to Austin to mend fences and feed a whole new crowd. Dealing with Joe's demons doesn't figure into her business model. Something is very different about him and she craves the ‘Old Joe’ she used to have a crush on.

Still, the broody carpenter's swagger is damn near irresistible. And all work and no play makes Molly a cranky girl.
Excerpt
“Where were we?” I asked, pulling him to me by his front belt loop.
His movements were stilted, at first, like he was trying to buy some time to figure out an exit strategy. Then, as if in slow motion, his mouth dropped to my neck and the way his stubble scratched against my flesh made me shudder. “We were about to make a huge mistake.”
“What makes you say that?” I sighed. My fingers gripped his hair as if they had a mind of their own.
He nipped my earlobe as his fingertips skimmed along my outer thighs, lifting the hem of my dress a few inches before dropping it again. When he whispered in my ear, I broke out in gooseflesh. “I’m not the kind of guy you’re looking for. I don’t date.”
“What a coincidence. Neither do I. Guess that makes you exactly the kind of guy I’m looking for.” His wet lips continued to toy with me and I could feel my knees threatening to buckle. Then his mouth was on mine and our ferocious kisses made me dizzy. Before I was aware it was happening, he lowered me onto the couch. The delicious weight of him against me was practically unbearable and my hands roamed his firm body, frustrated at the layers of clothing between us. Demandingly, I reached between his legs. Years of pent up frustration were boiling over inside me. The massive bulge I found waiting for me exceeded my wildest expectations.
He pulled his lips from mine and pushed back from me slightly. I was so frustrated I nearly cried out in alarm. By the faint light of the lamp, his intense green gaze locked on me. “This’ll only be a one-time thing. If you’re smart you’ll ask me to go. Now.”
“No one ever accused me of being smart.” I purred. He exhaled slowly, and his thumb caressed my bottom lip. I nipped at it playfully, trying my best to maintain some control over him…since I’d lost all control of myself.
“Molly.” My name had never sounded so fucking good.
“Yeah, Joe?” I reached out for the top button of his shirt and I could feel his heart pounding as I struggled to undo it.

“Don’t ask me to go.”

Can't wait until July!!!!!

Review: Uncaged Love Vol. 4

Uncaged Love Vol. 4 by JJ Knight

Description:
With Colt and Jo working as a team, they are unstoppable. Colt’s manager puts him back in line for the MMA title fight. Jo’s own career takes off as she prepares for her second match.

But someone Jo considers a friend is plotting a betrayal of them both to push a dangerous agenda.

When Jo is brutally attacked, she moves in with Colt. But their happiness together is quickly shattered when it’s clear that several people are prepared to do whatever it takes to see Colt fail.

My Thoughts:
Sooo....yet another cliffhanger survived. However this one ends in the worst of the worst cliffhangers, so my thought for you is DON'T READ THIS UNTIL PART 5 IS OUT!!  Unless you are like me and enjoy torturing yourself!

We left Jo walking out on Colts fight because she thought he couldn't focus with her there. Within pages we find out yet again she is wrong. After this happening so often you would think she'd figure it out! Sometimes I just want to smack the girl! :)

We also discover even more people that we can't trust. It seems every time we start a new chapter there is someone who was a friend but is really a backstabber.

I'm not going to tell you who we can/can't trust but honestly a few really surprised me.  Jo takes on another fight and yet again wins. This time it is great for her because Colt is there.  Once again Colt comes back to Busters and he is very surprised to see the changes that Jo made while he was gone. Life seems to be good and then Jo is attacked at her home. It is the final straw for Colt and he pulls her out of her place and moves her in with him. However at every turn things seem to go wrong.

This section is a real page turner and left me with my jaw on the floor yelling noooo that I don't have the next part!! Its killing me to not be able to finish it and I don't want to start something else while I wait. I hope to finish it soon!
