Review: Bring on the Heat

Bring on the Heat by Katie Rose
Book 1 in the Boys of Summer Series

Description:
In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

My Thoughts:
Okay I just have to say that I love that she titled this series The Boys of Summer because that is exactly what I think about when I hear baseball. That being said yes, this book is about a baseball player.

Darcy Hamilton is a girl with stars in her eyes. She loves her local baseball team the Sonics and knows her stuff when it comes to baseball. Unfortunately this does not pay the bills! So to make ends meet while she strives to become an author she house sits fir Lydia Logan, rich socialite extraordinaire. While Lydia is out of town she tells Darcy to take her place at an exclusive fundraiser the Sonics are putting on. Of course Darcy takes her upon it, but that’s where the snowball begins to form.

Chase Westbrook is the starting pitcher for the Sonics with high hopes for his future. He strives to play for the Yankees and make his millions and retire rich and successful. A chance meeting of who he believes to be Lydia sets everything up for him to meet his goals.

Darcy wakes up after a fantastic night at the fundraiser only to realize she is not at home. Only after sneaking out does she realize she left a key item at Chase’s home. The snowball begins to roll after time and time again she tries to get it back only to be sucked into Chase and Lydia’s world more and more. After spending so much time with Chase she begins to develop feelings for him, but how can she when he believes her to be someone else! Only with the snowball forms into an all-out avalanche do things become clear to Chase.

Can he forgive her for deceiving him all this time? Does it matter that she is not rich or will the really Lydia get the guy and live happily ever after?

This book is great because although the whole time I was sitting here saying this is all gonna blow up in her face it ends up great. I don’t feel the ending was rushed nor do I feel that there was anything left unsaid. I’m quite curious what the next book in the series will be about!
