Review: Catching Summer

Review: Catching Summer by L.P. Dover

Description:
Former nurse Summer Jacobs has seen her fair share of suffering, but she never expected tragedy to hit so close to home. After watching her husband die in the MMA ring, Summer spends the next two years fighting her way through the darkness. The last thing she needs is another hardheaded athlete turning her life upside down. But that’s exactly what happens when she meets a gridiron star who’s as skilled at stealing hearts as he is at snagging passes.

Carolina Cougars wide receiver Evan Townsend usually has no problem winning fans, so he’s intrigued when Summer shoots down his go-to plays for winning a woman’s attention. Never one to back down from a challenge, Evan turns up the heat, setting off sparks that neither can deny. But as his slow seduction begins to chase away Summer’s pain, he gets the feeling that someone is desperate to keep them apart. Now Evan will do anything to protect her—because he never misses a chance to make a perfect catch.

My Thoughts:
I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a review.  It's been awhile since I wrote a review for a book, but this book made me want to sit down and write about it. I really enjoyed this book to the point I stayed up late just to finish it!

Summer Jacobs has been through the wringer with her love life. Having to witness her husbands death 2 years ago she all but gave up on love. Instead of focusing on her love life she has gotten back on her feet and put her heart and soul into the restaurant she is running with Grayson, her deceased husband's brother, and her sister Lara. The last thing she thought would happen was that she would walk smack into the love of her life.

Evan Townsend has been waiting for someone his whole life. He knows Summer has been though a lot and has been waiting for her to show that she is ready to move on. When she comes to work for his NFL team he decides it is his chance. Things start to look like they are moving in the right direction until suddenly Evan's life is in danger several times. Will love hold them together or will Summer's fears and hurtful past tear them apart?

I will warn you that this book has a few sad points and I really didn't like one sad part of it. I don't want to give it away. However, I can't wait to see future books about Lara, Grayson, and I really want to learn more about Derek.

This book has a release date of April 5, 2016. So although you have to wait a couple months to get it I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as me!

Review: Chasing Allie

Review: Chasing Allie by Meli Raine
Product Details
Description:
It turns out my stepfather has plans for me. Plans that make dying look like a walk in the park. He’s selling my virginity to a Mexican drug lord to get out of debt. Chase just found out and is here to take me away to safety. To the ocean. To my dreams. But while I’m gone, a murder takes place back home. I receive a phone call. It’s the police. I’m the prime suspect. And if I go back, I may become the prime victim. They say love conquers all, but can Chase save me from this?

My Thoughts:
UGH!!! I will tell you this right now. Why do I keep getting caught up in books that end in cliff hangers?! This one leaves you wanting to throw your reading device across the room while reaching into the story and smacking Chase!!

Okay so when we ended Finding Allie we were all saying WHAT?!?! Well, thankfully that gets answered almost right away in the book. However, it takes a little while before you get ALL the answers.

Allie finally finds her backbone during the book and for once appears to be really happy in her life. Then it all comes crashing down. You knew that was gonna happen. :)

Chase seems to always be right there for Allie. Making her dreams all come true, yet he is keeping secrets from her. He has you wondering if he is just too good to be true.

And then the book ends and I will repeat I am lucky that I didn't throw my tablet!! I need book 3 because I can't believe how book 2 ended!

Review Finding Allie

Review: Finding Allie by Meli Raine
Product Details
Description:
Chase Halloway’s father is the president of Atlas, the drug dealing motorcycle gang that terrorizes most of our desert town. My stepfather turns out to be a rival drug dealer, and I’m pretty sure he killed my mom two years ago. I’m not supposed to fall in love with Chase. He’s not supposed to know I even exist. But when he finds me, he can’t let go. And when I find myself in his arms? I hold tight. I have to. Because if I don’t, I might just die. With or without him.

My Thoughts:
First of all I was given the pleasure of reading this book as an ARC in exchange for my review. This was not a hardship at all.  :)

Allie Boden has a very simple life. Boring, but simple. She has big plans, save her money that she gets working at her stepfather's bar and get to LA to live with her sister. She just didn't anticipate Chase Halloway in her simple plans.

Chase Halloway's life is all planned out for him. Become Vice President of his father's motorcycle gang, Atlas and then become the leader in the future. That was before he walked in to Allie's stepfather's bar and laid eyes on her.

With everyone against them being together is there anyway for the two of them to beat the odds?

This book starts out a little slow, but there is plenty of things that has you asking questions about the characters and why they do things. Immediately you fall for Chase in how he is so protective of Allie. However, do not read this book without having book 2 available to read because it leaves you hanging. It isn't a major cliff hanger, but it does leave you saying WHAT?!?!

Miami Hush Club: Book 1 By Michelle Warren
Ten years ago
The moment playing out before my eyes is ripe with irony.
My boyfriend is having sex, but not with me. Even though we run a wildly successful escort service together, I expected Casper to be faithful. What a lovesick fool I was. Instead, it’s me who’s being fucked as I helplessly watch my sister and best escort, Alex, sit atop Casper’s dick, enthusiastically riding him into next week.
At first I’m frozen in shock, so the situation crashing down on me is momentarily unfathomable. In some ways, it’s a nightmare that makes no sense.
My heart stops, collapsing in my chest and sinking into my gut as I desperately try to hold myself upright. Or maybe those are my malfunctioning lungs, unable to inhale the thickness of betrayal-laced air. Either way, it’s only my vision that continues working. My eyes soak up all the information, piecing together fragments of incomprehensible images as my brain tries to catch up.
Casper and Alex don’t even realize I’m here watching them because they’re too caught up in screwing to the rhythmic beat of the blaring music that’s making the condo’s walls vibrate. Still, the music isn’t enough to drown out their escalating moans of pleasure.
I want to break out of this hell but I’m mesmerized, watching his hands grip the curve of her hips, his fingertips sinking into her soft flesh, and his muscular arms flexing as they lift her body effortlessly, controlling the speed of their wild and ferocious coupling. Rising up, he takes her breast in his mouth and then drags his tongue along her collarbone, right before their lips connect feverishly.
It’s at that moment that I realize that this is more than a mindless fuck session, because Alex never kisses her clients. Ever.
They’re together.
At this new understanding, my gut roils as my brain kicks in and attempts to process this. How long has this been going on? Why would the two people I love most do this to me?
But the need for answers is quickly overcome by the surge of intense fury shooting back to my heart, delivering a jolt of electricity, jump-starting it in erratic beats. Now it’s exploding with a dangerous concoction of emotions—rejection, sadness, doubt.
And anger. Lots and lots of anger.
As if my body can’t take the boiling volatile mixture, my hands begin to shake, my muscles convulse, and finally I erupt, releasing a strangled scream.

Review: The Vigilante's Lover Vol. 1

The Vigilante's Lover Volume 1 by Annie Winters
The Vigilante's Lover
Description:
Mia trembles as she reads the letter that arrives from Ridley Prison.

Seduction. Rope ties. Descriptions of things Mia has never experienced or known.

The man’s words are desperately passionate. He longs for a woman who must have given him a fake address. Mia’s address.

She plans to send the letter back. He’s a convicted felon.

But his words gnaw at her. She’s never done anything dangerous. And no man has ever talked to her like this.

So Mia writes him, pretending to be the woman he desires.

It's her one dark thrill in her dull, solitary small-town life.

The man is in prison for another fifteen years.

It's harmless. She is safe enough.

Until he escapes.

My Thoughts:
Please fasten your seat belts and keep your arms inside the book at all times because you are about to set forth on a roller coaster ride of excitement. Annie Winters grabs your attention from the start of this book and then leaves you hanging by your fingertips on the final page. That's right its a cliff hanger book. In fact this book is part of a series of I think 4 books and knowing how Annie writes every single one of these will leave you hanging until the final book.

If you read the Fight for Her series by JJ Knight then the name Jax will be familiar to you. Jax was one of the "mystery" men that came to help get Maddie away from Striker when he kidnapped her.  If you thought he was a mystery then, just wait!!

Mia Morrow isn't a spy. She isn't a secret agent. She isn't much of anything. She came home to care for her aunt who recently died and now is living in her home trying to decide what she wants to do with her life. Then she finds the letters. She gets brave and decides to reply to the writer and that begins her nightmare or adventure depending upon how you want to look at it. The only thing she knows is that her life will never be the same.

Jax De Luca as been screwed over. He sits in jail and he isn't supposed to be there. Not that it will keep him there for long.  He is a member of an exclusive group called the Vigilante's and is on a mission. To find his friend Klaus. He started getting letters from him, but they made no sense. Now to get out and see what's happening.

Jax and Mia lead us on an exciting journey that leaves you longing for more Jax and curious as to if they are going to fall for one another. Just when you start to think they will the book ends!! UGH! :) I am anxiously waiting for the next part and I'm sure you will be too!!

Review: Blue Shoes Volume 1

Blue Shoes Volume 1 by JJ Knight

Description:
Jess Rivera is a young music executive engaged to Morris Music's hottest rock star: Dylan Wolf.

She wears a gorgeous diamond ring on her finger, and everyone wants to know when they're getting married.

Between Dylan's screaming fans who chase him everywhere, plus their glamorous L.A. lifestyle, the couple can hardly get a moment alone together.

That's why they're planning a secret wedding.

But when a visit to a bridal gown boutique goes terribly wrong, all their romantic plans are ruined.

Sometimes it feels like the whole world is against the couple's love. Is it just bad luck, or is someone trying to destroy Dylan Wolf?

My Thoughts:

I was given the opportunity to read an ARC of this book from the author. To understand what is happening you need to have read her series Revenge because the two main characters Dylan and Jess are the same main characters in that series.

The story picks up with the two in LA again but this time they are so in love and attempting to plan their wedding! However, life with a rock star doesn't prove to be easy. I hate to say it, but Jess kinda got on my nerves! She just seemed a bit whiny about things. I get that its frustrating and the press would make me crazy, but seriously not telling the love of your life how you are feeling because you are afraid it will break you two up....well that is a HUGE red flag in any relationship in my book!

So the couple are super hot when they are together, but there are all sorts of issues that pop up during this portion of the story. I am pretty sure someone is trying to break them up, but I don't know for sure because right when things get good it ends! I hope to read part 2 soon to keep the story fresh and be able to give a good continueing review.

At this time all I can say is if you have read Revenge then check this out because it is always nice to see characters return, however if you haven't then wait a few weeks to see what I think of the entire part! I enjoyed Revenge (don't think I wrote a review), but am torn about how I feel about this series.

Review: Bring on the Heat

Bring on the Heat by Katie Rose
Book 1 in the Boys of Summer Series

Description:
In Katie Rose’s irresistible battle of wits, a case of mistaken identity lands a female fan in bed with a sexy superstar—and in major-league trouble.

House-sitting for a rich and famous friend has its perks, and Darcy Hamel isn’t shy about enjoying them. Especially when it means scoring a ticket to an exclusive fashion show hosted by the New Jersey Sonics. An avid baseball fan, Darcy has always dreamed of meeting the team—especially the starting pitcher whose body is as hot as his fastball. But there’s a catch. The gala is by invitation only. To get behind the velvet rope, mild-mannered Darcy will have to pose as party girl Lydia Logan.

Schmoozing is one of the downsides of fame, but Chase Westbrook knows how to liven up even the dullest event. And nothing spices a night up more than a beautiful socialite with a naughty reputation. What Chase doesn’t expect is a hint of sweetness beneath her sultry façade. Flirtation turns to seduction and leaves him aching for more. Chase just doesn’t know who the real Lydia is: the spoiled tease crying foul over some missing diamonds or the alluring woman making a play for his heart.

My Thoughts:
Okay I just have to say that I love that she titled this series The Boys of Summer because that is exactly what I think about when I hear baseball. That being said yes, this book is about a baseball player.

Darcy Hamilton is a girl with stars in her eyes. She loves her local baseball team the Sonics and knows her stuff when it comes to baseball. Unfortunately this does not pay the bills! So to make ends meet while she strives to become an author she house sits fir Lydia Logan, rich socialite extraordinaire. While Lydia is out of town she tells Darcy to take her place at an exclusive fundraiser the Sonics are putting on. Of course Darcy takes her upon it, but that’s where the snowball begins to form.

Chase Westbrook is the starting pitcher for the Sonics with high hopes for his future. He strives to play for the Yankees and make his millions and retire rich and successful. A chance meeting of who he believes to be Lydia sets everything up for him to meet his goals.

Darcy wakes up after a fantastic night at the fundraiser only to realize she is not at home. Only after sneaking out does she realize she left a key item at Chase’s home. The snowball begins to roll after time and time again she tries to get it back only to be sucked into Chase and Lydia’s world more and more. After spending so much time with Chase she begins to develop feelings for him, but how can she when he believes her to be someone else! Only with the snowball forms into an all-out avalanche do things become clear to Chase.

Can he forgive her for deceiving him all this time? Does it matter that she is not rich or will the really Lydia get the guy and live happily ever after?

This book is great because although the whole time I was sitting here saying this is all gonna blow up in her face it ends up great. I don’t feel the ending was rushed nor do I feel that there was anything left unsaid. I’m quite curious what the next book in the series will be about!
